CAR2Vote has for years provided nonpartisan transportation and voting assistance for voters in the Charlottesville/Albemarle region of Central Virginia.
DURING THE PANDEMIC, WE WILL NOT BE PROVIDING RIDES TO VOTE.
WE WILL BE OBSERVING ALL BEST PRACTICES TO KEEP OUR VOLUNTEERS AND VOTERS SAFE. Please let us know of any assistance you might need to figure out how to cast your vote safely and securely.
This year, with the pandemic, we strongly encourage everyone to vote early, absentee in person at their local registrar's office, getting a ride with someone you're already exposed to, a family member, caregiver, etc.; you can even vote right from your car in many cases. You can also apply for an absentee ballot for November. Our volunteers will be happy to help a first-time absentee voter over the phone or from a safe distance.
Voters who need assistance in casting their ballot in Charlottesville city, the University of Virginia community, and Albemarle County can request assistance by signing up here at the Need Some Help link or by calling 434-260-1547. We can help with your absentee voter application, or help you figure out how to get to vote. Please leave a message; we'll call you back.
MAKE SURE YOU'RE AWARE OF NEW VOTING REGULATIONS PASSED BY THE VIRGINIA GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND HOW THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF ELECTIONS IS WORKING TO KEEP EVERYONE SAFE WHILE VOTING. Get more information at our "Need Election Info?" page.
Volunteers--Know that the BEST thing you can do if you're supporting a candidate or an issue is to canvass or call voters. We set up CAR2Vote primarily to give those who aren't able to canvass or call another way to help. Our volunteer slots for 2020 are FULL.
